Jerusalem Biblical Zoo

The Jerusalem Biblical Zoo is a must see on everyone’s list of attractions when visiting Israel, but it has endured quite a struggle to get this status.

The Jerusalem Biblical Zoo, also known as the Tisch Family Biblical Gardens in Jerusalem or the Tisch Family Biblical Zoo, is a sprawling 62 acre compound housing more than 1,000 animals, most of which live in areas designed to perfectly resemble their natural habitats.

Many of the animals are described by their Biblical references and the Visitor’s Center, which overlooks the zoo, is an arc.

But the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo was not always such a nice place. It took the dedication and perseverance of one man (Aharon Shulov) who loved the animals to make the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo what it is today.
